The .308 is such a good caliber. I don’t own any sporting rifles in it anymore, just M1A, L1-A1, I think. Roman does have a tactical Mossberg I think. I do have one .30-06 bolt and a Garand.
My first commercial bolt gun was a Remington 788 in .308. I remember sighting at a milk jug full of water at 200 measured yards. I aimed at the red cap calculating a bit of drop from a 100 yd. zero. After the shot, and no explosion of water it took me a while to figure out the “cap” was no longer on the jug. I sighted and hit a jug cap, maybe 1/4”x2” at 200 yds! The gun was cobby, but deadly accurate. I had installed tall “see thru” mounts and learned how sight over bore calculations influence trajectory beyond the published data!
Great photo! Looks like most of the powder is being consumed. A relatively small blast signature for the shorter barrel.
