Ocean Lake, Wyoming
NW of Riverton is a place called Ocean Lake. This freshwater lake is about 12000 acres in size and has a variety of fish such as burbot.
I never realized it but ice fishing is a big deal in Wyoming. I tended to think of places like Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire as well as Michigan and Minnesota as hotspots for ice fishing.
Nope.
Wyoming is a hotspot. In my area Boysen Reservoir along with Ocean Lake are popular destinations for people to sit on the ice and fish.
Just to show you how cold it can get here is an image of my old Subaru Forester on the frozen surface of Ocean Lake.

One of my favorite pastimes. Watching the Tip-Ups and
shoveling off enough ice to play hockey while waiting for the flags to fly.
Where I lived for a white, the place
