Made from a hydraulic cylinder, the firing tube is 8" long and has just under a 1 1/2" bore. Loaded with 100 grains of 3Fg and then filled up with Pyrodex P, and a 5,500 grain lead slug pounded down on top of the powder charge, it launched the slug completely out of sight.

The slug was bore diameter and 2 1/2" long. I watched it go up out of sight. Someone caught sight of it coming down and we eventually recovered it about 400 yards away from the launch area.
