Ok I can’t afford a new .475 or my wet dream .510 so I have a Ruger SS Super Blackhawk 5rd cylinder in .480 can it be open to the .475 linebaugh.

Not Gary but no. But you can have a new cylinder made

you a cup of Joe. That being said the 480 will handle anything in the lower 48 with ease, which is why my 500 LB sees mainly 510 loads. I would consider having the cylinder chambers lengthened slightly allowing you to seat the bullet a bit longer and work up loads for the 480.

I belive Gary has done that before

The only disadvantage to it is the factory Ruger Cylinder is a bit shorter than custom cylinders. ( yes custom cylinders can be a bit larger in diameter too ) Thereby limiting your cartridge OAL more to the SAAMI length.
