Krieghoff rifle, 470 NE, Hornady factory 500 gr DGX and DGS. DGX in the left (most rearward trigger) and DGS in right(front trigger). Chronoing these loads shows 2150+/- 10fps for the few I have clocked. Both bbl hit within a 2" circle, left about 1/2" high of the right at 50 yds.
This rifle is set up with a "flip up moon" express front site such that when you put the white bead on anything out to 50 meters the two bbls hit within that area, flip up bead covers about 2" at 50 yds. We looked over the herd from maybe 100yds and decided on the bull, then dropped down into the canyon (immediately behind us in the photo) and came up beside the herd, ID'ed the bull and stalked to within 50 yds of this guy and set up for the shot, free hand no shooting sticks. I placed the white bead nestled in the V of the rear on the point of the shoulder. Unfortunately I was standing on a little incline so when I broke the shot recoil lifted my left foot off the ground a bit (son laughed for a while about that) but was able kept my eye on the bull and the surrounding herd. He dropped flat to the ground and didn't move again. I had recovered with my finger now on the forward trigger but didn't have to use the solid on him or other members of the immediate herd. I did use a finishing shot from my Reeder Scorpion 41mag 255 gr WFNGC bullet to the base of the skull which had remarkable penetration.
Post mortem showed the 500 gr DGX destroyed the onside shoulder, damaged both lungs and 2nd shoulder and stopped under the hide on the opposite side. Penetration was straight through without deviation. I estimate about 4 feet of penetration. Bullet was picture perfect mushroom.
