another big hit at HHC 2019 was the Taurus TX22

Encouraged by Mr. Taffin's positive report, I got it the day before leaving. Not everyone has experienced the gun or firing a suppressed handgun. Roman and I went to Wal-mart in Cookville and bought their 8" steel gong made from AR500. They are $35 and can take a hit from a .50 BMG FMJ if you don't mind chasing it into the woods to find it afterward. The 5.56, 7.62X39, and .308 FMJ do not even scratch it. It needs to be set up with bolts/nuts and chain behind the plate so metal splatter won't cut the chain. We tried cord and wire at HHC with poor results.

The TX22 is an ergonomic marvel, feels fantastic. The sights are plastic but the three dots are easy to see and adjustable (after reading the manual to know how). The trigger is what makes it all work. It's a newly patented design and geometry. It does not swing off a hinge pin like most triggers but sits in a mortise and is held there with springs. You can note about 3mm of lateral movement at the tip of the trigger that feels odd. The actual pull is a delight. You take up slack until hitting a notable stop, then a short, crisp, 5.5 lb. pull. Everyone liked it. Everyone hit with it too. All the young boys hit the gong at 50 yds. at least once with a mag. Also the mags are all plastic save the spring. The only problem I had was pulling the follower too far down while loading and getting a rim over the lower round which jams it up. Just take time to do it right and it feeds flawlessly. Our ammo was Winchester 39 gr. HP Hi-Velocity that was still subsonic in the TX22. A BIG benefit in economy shooting suppressed. No need to seek out special standard velocity ammo, just shoot what you have on hand.

I really enjoyed letting the boys give the gun a try and asking them questions about feedback how they liked it. All smiles and new stories to tell. I think the TX22 is a real winner and I'm very pleased I chose it.
