From HHC 2019 the .50 MDH, a new one.

A bit redundant to test but Dave Manson took a couple head of game with it. He walked into the room with this little Remington Model 7 short action, but something didn't look right. The barrel was too big around. A shorter barreled varmint gun, not likely. It had a BIG hole in it.

Fellows up north in some states cannot hunt with ANY rifle at all. No rifled muzzle loaders, no rifled shotguns, and certainly no centerfire rifles. Lately some slick fellows have petitioned to have the rules changed to allow rifled centerfires provided they are of a minimum caliber and straight walled cartridges within limited specifications. This has bred the introduction of the late .350 Legend on the AR platform and also this .50 MDH.

Dave developed it from cutting off a .300 Ultra Mag case (basically a .404 Jeffery case) and adjusting the neck to hold a .510" bullet. This is a 375 gr. with removable tip (to run as a huge hollow point - *would work fine in a .510 GNR!) and was said be zipping along at about 2400 fps! Remember on that .510" there is a huge surface area to spread out the psi. Dave said the trick was to get a stock for a Model 7 that had that big of a barrel channel. Good to have buds at HS Precision I guess.

Dave gave me about 3-4 different potential names for the acronym MDH, only one of which was "Manson Deer Hammer". I'm not sure though, he likes to pull my leg. It was pretty cool though and I thought you guys might like to see it here first! Said case is said to be 1.8" long and head spaces on the case mouth.
