made. Gary makes some similar to that but at least they have a bit of class. That one is just butt ugly. And why in the world name something after Wily Clapp? What has he ever done with a single action revolver? That is just copying S&W and their Wily Clapp special. Silly.

name calling and such. I will have to side with both of the folks measuring peckers. Ruger didn't build this as one of their own series. The gun was designed by Wiley Clapp and Ruger built it for Talo, a gun distributor, just like Lipseys and Davidsons are distributors. For instance, if you wanted Ruger to build a very special gun to your specs, as long as it was safe and didn't infringe on someone else's patents, they would do so, as long as you order at least 500 or 1000 guns and come up with the money up front. So before you say Ruger is building ugly guns, put the blame on the distributor Talo.

Now here comes the chicken shit way of agreeing with both so no more fights get started. I agree the gun is ugly, in fact very ugly. If Clapp designed it that is one strike against him. On the other side of the coin, it probably won't be the working man's carry gun as it is a special one of 500 or one of however many they are building, so my guess here is it will be just as expensive as a standard Blackhawk, maybe more.

You guys that are older than dirt will remember very special revolvers built by Colt and by S&W that were much like these, being a dull satin finish and ugly as sin. Each of these series flopped. The S&W was the Nightguard and the Colt was the Peacekeeper.Both had the ugly sandblasted finish and the public said "no thanks".

Another thing I disagreed with (and my opinion and $11.25 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks) is the huge front sight. There will be no precision shooting with that big dead frog on the front of the barrel.

So I have different feelings about this new gun. I have to congratulate Ruger for letting companies design their own handguns and rifles (I think Ruger is building about 25 different versions of the 10-22, designed and paid for by various distributors). I would be even stranger than I am normally if I agreed with all new series, but I have dual feelings about this gun. At first I didn't like the new Wrangler revolver at all, but it began to grow on me. This one will probably do the same.
