Spent the weekend in West Texas
on a friend's ranch. He has a few thousand acres of great hunting country. We had to rough it in an old beat up cabin but we managed.

We hunted from blinds ... stalked on foot ... drove and glassed .. sat on water tanks. Setting at one tank I heard noise behind me.

Later a coyote ran right past me to the water .. was within 10 feet of me. I decided to shoot him because there was nothing else. I cocked the gun silently then raised up to shooting position. As I did he heard me, whirled and ducked just as I fired. I shot right over his back! He was gone.
Later in the day my friend Mark was driving with his son and they saw a hog laying in the sun in a little valley. They drove up within a hundred yards or less, got out and shot the hog. He was sleeping and never woke up!

It was beautiful country and great to be in. Shooting the 100 yard gongs off the front porch was fun too. I had a good time even though I didn't see any hogs.
