Encore barrel

I have acquired a heavy bull barrel (pistol) for my Encore in 6.5 Raptor. I am having some difficulty in trying to fit a forearm. The hole spacing is about 2.5 inches and the drilled and tapped holes are smaller than anything I am accustomed to - probably 8-48 or 10-48. I usually go the Bullberry hanger bar route on Super 14 Contender barrels, but that is obviously not an option here. Any suggestions or help?

Should be 8:40 scresws, ACE Hardware has them.

I usually find them in Hex style and cut to suit and make washers etc. A nut of that size helps keep the threads straight after trimming to length.

Some of my old Indian tricks would be humorous to watch. I stick screws through cardboard then fold it over to insulate my fingers to grind it carefully. Got to be a better way but I got to be me. Grinding down washers is a real trick and I've lost some finger prints over time! I try to slide it on an axle and control the spin some to grind evenly. It's a challenge some times. There are some hardware store brass and aluminum washers that are real close in size to work. Things are more exciting now I have bifocals and need tri-focals. For humor only, don't do what I do.

Scotty you can run two nuts on to the

Bolt and lock them together at the trim length. Then grind or cut flush to the nut. You can hold it by the nuts in a vice or with vice grips. Also when you screw the nuts off it will clean up the treads that where cut. May still need a little buffing

Perfect! Cut-off wheel on dremel, short work.

pistol. We don't build our barrels to fit Bulberry hangers. We have been building TC barrels longer than anyone other than J.D. starting in '78. The screws are TC screws and are 8-40 just as they should be.

Works for Pachmayr too.

And they have hangers once the barrels are modified.
