it as an assembly. It looks like the big ring uses a spanner to unscrew that tube from the proper barrel nut. The spanner nut is thin and runs above the through gas tube. That has to be it.

I have this gun built in .300 Whisper (the upper) that I have not really wrung out. I've lost interest some though (except for suppressed shooting for sport). I was thinking of replacing the barrel with one in .350 Legend to play with the caliber. It seems like a bit of trouble though.
Thing is, a complete bolt rifle is only between $350 -450. Less than many AR platform upper assemblies alone. Hummmm.... With the flooded market hocking the .300 tube seems impractical to recoup .350 sponsor funds. I've been wanting a Ruger American Ranch rifle of some sort. Ever since handlins Stonecold's little .223.
