Reeder Custom Guns - I think I have it figured out but I bought

it as an assembly. It looks like the big ring uses a spanner to unscrew that tube from the proper barrel nut. The spanner nut is thin and runs above the through gas tube. That has to be it.

I have this gun built in .300 Whisper (the upper) that I have not really wrung out. I've lost interest some though (except for suppressed shooting for sport). I was thinking of replacing the barrel with one in .350 Legend to play with the caliber. It seems like a bit of trouble though.

Thing is, a complete bolt rifle is only between $350 -450. Less than many AR platform upper assemblies alone. Hummmm.... With the flooded market hocking the .300 tube seems impractical to recoup .350 sponsor funds. I've been wanting a Ruger American Ranch rifle of some sort. Ever since handlins Stonecold's little .223.

Just back the locking ring off a little. It is like a jam nut locking the handguard down. Once you back it off, then you should be able to unscrew the handguard from the barrel nut. At least that was the setup on an AR I once had.

It does not look like it has much threads. Plus without such a set up how would you align the rails?

peasy. If I can do several I am sure you can. Just need an armorer's tool set for the AR. I'm not into those anymore. I've kept a couple for home defense for my wife and I. Wouldn't mind an AR-10 for hogs with an IR scope for hogs that show up from time to time.

that one. I have a few. I like old school, the old SP1 was a good truck gun, light and handy. A good varmint gun. It's gone totally sideways with the platform, even turning it basically into an AK with the gas piston set ups.

I can't get along with the flat tops. I have to jack my optics back up about 2" so it does not hurt my neck. I still have a carry handle A2 HBAR and use the detachable ones for scope risers! Looks goofy but works fine.

I have a AR10 I need to sell, DPMS with a 24" bull barrel. I guess it was a "Position Rifle" set up for long range. Weighs about 12-13 lbs. I thought about putting a light weight barrel on the chassis but it is still going to be hefty. Buffer and bolt weigh about 2 lbs. each! They DO shoot good though, no recoil, reliable. Mine has no forward assist. Never got much out of one anyway other than to jam a stoppage even worse.

The .350 sounds fun and more useful since I can go bullets to 200 grs. like the old .351 WSL and shoot common 9mm projectiles. The .300 is ok, about like a rimless .300 GNR actually. Would do on a normal Whitetail or med. hog. Heck guys kill both with the .223!

The only 7.62x39 I personally own is Dough's old SKS. I put it back to a blade style bayonet as it was intended. I think that may be a old violation of a pre-ban rule too. Hope the antique bayonet police don't see it.

Shooting it is a hoot. From my bench it ejects with great force about 20 ft. straight up. Then with a bit of "hang time" the empty plops back down on the bench beside me! LOL I don't have to hunt for brass. I could almost place a box and it would fling them in.
