Red Loc-tite ain't coming loose without a torch! I guess that could be left off at a request but I'd probably lose it. What are they about $100 option? The D&T takes a lot of skill to do right, the X-Y angle and a little countersink for the shank. You earn that money!

I have a couple M92 Winchesters with lanyard rings, I think one old military S&W .38 M&P. I understand the military application particularly in a Navy setting!

Were not the lanyards used on carbines to "tie" the gun so it would not slip out of the horse scabbard? I use Wal-mart leather boot strings cut to suit on mine ($2 for (2) 72" pieces - LOL), that keeps them quiet and looks the part. But I bet the military application goes way back farther than the horse use, or maybe it was a combination of both!
