44-40 WCF with modern powders...

Using the fairly new Win 572 powder, the 44-40 really came to life.

REMEMBER THESE LOADS ARE FOR STRONG MODERN GUNS ONLY. NOT COLTS OR SIMILAR STRENGTH GUNS.

Worked up to 30,000 psi using published 44 Magnum data and similar case capacity.

Seating GT Hollow Point 245 grn cast bullets over 11.0 grn of Win 572 has been my accuracy champ. Producing 1300 fps and one hole groups at 25 yards.

The charge weight is less than half of that required when using H110 and 296. Yet, produced 87% of the velocity of the H110 load.

Tried shooting a cylinder full and turning the gun to put the powder in a different position for every shot. This didn't effect accuracy or consistency of the rounds.

Will be trying similar loads in my 44 Magnums in the near future.
