Delirious fun diversion for Monday.

I collected a cool barrel set from a very generous friend and initially had some too hot loads I began with. I had to gingerly hammer the brass out of the chamber, I only made a few rounds. It was blistering speed though, lots faster than it's size would hint. Basically a .25 Herrett, the .25 American.

I'm getting it back out. Generosity again bestowed me some formed .357 Herrett brass. I narrowly escaped a purchase of an old .357 TC set-up. I didn't really need another project. So I figured I could justify reforming it to this cool .25 American.

I do have the rare .25 American dies. How to get there from .30-30, much less .357 Herrett, is another matter. I had to dive in my pile of in house dies. The .300 GNR form die is wonderful for many purposes. I use it first to neck down from .35 to .30 and set the shoulder back far enough. Then I used a sizer for the 7mm BR to help neck from .30 to .284. Finally I was able to FL size the .25 American and cut it off to be able to form and load, fire-form the brass. This time I'll back off even more. It should be fun to shoot too.
