mo' Name Game

a gun with a name that we have had for years but it is not worth getting hot about. It all started way back with our Black Widow. Now the latest is our Hellcat which we have had for almost 5 years. Another company is now using the name in big ads. As long as people don't think we "borrowed" the name from them for our guns, I have no problem with it. Those names were around long before we started using them as names for our guns so really not worth getting all bent out of shape.

company based in Oregon taught a lot of people some lessons about naming, and marketing too. They bought engines from Asia and made the other components or sourced them. They were tinny, but light and quick, also affordable. The import company came to be known as "Hodaka". Their bike names in a sea of lettered and numerical nomenclature. Hodaka had the "ACE" which was 90cc, the "Super Rat" (100), "Wombat" (125), "Combat Wombat", "Road Toad" (100), "Thunderdog" (250). You knew the distinctive name and it's displacement by the moniker. It sure was more memorable than SL, XL, JT, DT, TC, TS etc...

The take is, you just need to think out of the box. A name no one else will EVER think of. I noted a Govt. operation of late was coined "Crossfire - Hurricane". You knew where that came from, right?!
