Got my first deer hunting with the revolver,..
Deer were moving like crazy.. I'll update with the story tomorrow... But I'll tell you this. I think it took $2 worth of lead (priced by weight) then I had to strangle it... It ain't no trophy, but its my first legit deer hunted with a revolver. Not just a lucky opportunity to shoot a deer with the revolver, which I have done in the past. And done with a gun that started out as one thing and ended up as another...
I learned somethings today.

Not a trophy? No way it can not be a trophy...
Your first revolver deer? Animal on the ground means trophy to me. Congratulations!!!
Oh , I'm tickled about the deer,..
.. but I know what it is. Its a special hunt for me and something to put in my biscuit.
It is kinda big for a young Carolina 4 pt. though.

it is seldom easy. I started handgun hunting with a
S&WE model 57 in 41 Mag and a Colt Python 357. The crude sights on both guns posed problems getting exact on bullet placement. The front sight blotted out the animal if he was more than 50 to 60 yards off and it became guess work. I wounded a couple of animals with the Python and ended up in the middle of an all day tracking session before finding the animals. After that I dumped the Python and started handgun hunting with the TC and a 41 Magnum barrel. That barrel is the exact same barrel I rechambered to 41 GNR and whacked off the 9" and still use today. But with a 2X scope on it I would pick my spot where I wanted the bullet to hit.
My favorite non GNR caliber back then was the new 30 Herrett in a 10" barrel. I took more animals than should be allowed with that barrel. Kase had one just like it at 10 years old and took quite a few critters with it.

Kase also started hunting with a 44-40 New Frontier revolver but used his 30 Herrett more.

I still carry a revolver but mostly for back up. I usually carry my favorite 429 GNR revolver or my 410 GNR. I have used both cartridges on big animals in Africa, Alaska and here in the states. But the custom 41 GNR TC is still my "go to gun".
