I've had a couple .270's and they are actually great rifles, a bit more than .25-06 and not much to argue over a 6.5 or 7mm-06. You just put a 130-150 gr. pill where it needs to go, done. But also I just can;t seem to get jazzed about it.
By the time you spent $$$ to re-barrel you could have bought a nicer rifle anyway. That's why it's cheap. Almost a shame.
I found a fellow who claims to be well thought of that could re-bore and re-rifle my custom .30-06 to .338-06 or .35 Whelen for like $250. But I can buy one of these cheap, accurate, plastic, wonder-boom-sticks, that put out these days for about that, used.
