I like this new remake, not enough to rush out and buy it myself, but if Santa wanted an idea for a stocking stuffer, Groovy. Actually I personally need a new stls. G2. I own two Encores, a 1974 Contender "hard open", and Roman has absconded with my blue G2. The latter is a good one that fits about ever barrel I have. I did have to swap the bolts on an old 8-3/8 octagon .357 and a later barrel. Somehow the combination worked on both barrels when swapped.
One trait I really disliked on the Contender is if you are on the stand and "bump" the trigger it goes "click"! You have to reset the action by opening it again. Makes noise. If you bumped it at a bad time or didn't notice you had previously tripped it, only to find your hammer won't stay at full cock as the trophy buck twitches nervously 25 yds. away. One simply works around things like that if it's what you have to work with. BUT the G2 has no such characteristic. I do applaud that style hammer that has the dual pin and safety on it. Really nice to be able to have it cocked but on safe. I like that.
