hence the price gouging. Factory grips have plastic inserts and no inserts in the forend. Pachmayr grips AND the forends too have hefty aluminum inserts the rubber is over-molded. That's why they are heavier and can support sling studs. Factory is several ounces lighter (like 1/2 lb.).
The angle on the grip is less of a rake angle too. It places your knuckle closer to the guard in recoil. Not all bad as the trigger reach is shorter too. It's a personal preference. I'd not pay a premium unless it's simply what I had to have.
I MUCH prefer the Pachmayr grip for the Encore handgun, my fingers are too short to reach the trigger, as I prefer, without altering my comfortable grip. I personally don't like the factory TC Encore grip at all. But wood or hard material will sting like the devil in hard recoil.
