A while back there was a forum discussion on folks that believe the Earth is flat. I added that a number of celebrities believe it and help further the notion.
If there are enough believers of anything, there's a 'conference' for it.

I guess it's just a coincidence

that nothing observable in the heavens appears to be flat; just the Earth has that distinction. These folks would be a great organizational fit on the House Intelligence Committee.

I've worked in or around the US federal government since the Reagan Administration.
Arthur C. Clarke once said -- "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
DC has taught me these corollaries:
"Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice."
"Any sufficiently advanced bureaucracy is indistinguishable from tyranny."
Well said.

The Federal Government since Lyndon Johnson's administration and I could not agree more with HIC!

I could have been much clearer. My comments were aimed at some of the Deep Staters that the HIC is looking at. Their hubris is quite staggering.

I found an old geography book that had a pic and described how if the Earth was flat, sunrise would occur instantly over half the planet.
So who lives on the other side?
