I can go to my FFL and buy a AR15 (licensed lower) for $50, ditto a Glock surplus lower complete for $125. Why would anyone want to pay $65 for a kit then spend 6-7 hours of relatively skilled labor, and you could very easily screw it all up and have zero.

As mentioned, you can't sell it, or ever trade it. Not even to a relative, by the law. I'm very picky with my felonies! (that's a joke)

Except for the elicit illegal trade it has no true value. I thought it was a fad that would pass. Bust those felonious thugs! I have no issue if one wanted to learn the engineering, machine work, and follow the letter of the law but there is too much room to hurt the sport and industry through negligent abuse. It's like they were trying to piss off the Feds. with the whole concept.
