10mm What Is It?

After talk about rechambering the GP100s to 10mm Magnum, I got to wondering.

The cylinder is plenty long enough, so I seated some 200 grn Missouri Bullets long. They are coated, so no lube to worry about. These are about 1/4" longer than factory 10mm Auto. These should work just fine in my 10mm Blackhawk too.

Not a hint of pull while shooting either. Can get dangerously close to 401 PowerMag, 10mm Magnum and 41 Magnum power. Not quite, but closes the gap considerably.

I'll order some .050" TK Moon Clips and not look back.

Excellent choice for a revolver. Seating the bullet out in the 10mm case works too.

I made some 10mm "auto rim" but

it was a real chore. they still had to headspace off the case mouth. Real tricky with the short 10mm. Longer 10mm mag would be lots easier. The .30-30 were too thick at the neck. Modded .41 Rem. worked after lathe turning the outer web. The rims can touch too as the pawl gear on the cylinder gets in the way. Like I said a real engineering feat.

I'm not energetic enough for that much work...

I'll explore loads more with the Blackhawk 10mm. But, this method just requires adjustment of seating stem and powder measure.

Think 1300 fps w/200 grn and 1200 fps w/220 grn will be easy with below max pressures.

yep, life is too short to do all that when you can buy brass

from your local gun shop. Although I can remember cutting down 308 Lake City Match brass to 1.298, reaming out the inside of the case, then running it thru the 44 Auto Mag die to get reliable 44 Auto Mag ammo. And 41 Auto Mag and 357 Auto Mag brass. The only good thing was the 44 Auto Mag brass could be used to make the 41 and 357 ammo too. Still I must have had a lot of spare time back then, but I did a lot of hunting with my 41 Auto Mag and my 44 Auto Mag pretty much all over the world so the time spent wasn't so bad after all.

That's the ol' 10MM Hangitout Sumore

GP100? If I had my choice right now I’d get one of the GP 10mm and set it up for hunting.

Yes, the above project is for a GP-100 in 10mm...

And don’t forget with the 10mm you’re Cape buffalo ready. Lol
