Reeder Custom Guns - Trying to get started casting some

For those who have painted their bullets what is a general recommendation past the "starter" Harbor Freight powder paint? Is there a really good stand-by go-to in a dark more "gun" color? Something like Black, Gray, Midnite Blue etc.? Something that looks less "toy", or radical?

I need tons of .401 bullets, and want to do some 6mm/95 gr. and 147/200 gr. in 9mm/.358.

Painting encapsulates the lead and allows it to shoot in semi-autos better without gunking things up. Of course I have to go buy a new toaster oven. Still don't know why it blew up. The element under the pan burned through, must have touched the metal pan and created a dead short. It made a white arch fireball in the center of the pan and blew off the non-stick coating on the pan. Anyway it's done. Of course it blew the 20A breaker, but it took long enough!

Of course in math you have advantage. lol One would be 70k, then a couple ton is just that. So truly the plural or a "few" would be at least 6k lbs. So as usual you are spot on.

I need about 30 lbs. of them to be honest.lol I owe a friend some.

I got some real ugly pink and orange calico bullets. But they shot fine. LOL

is used to paint the lead weights for fishing lures? I don't know how much it would change the bullet diameter but they come in all colors.

to a science these days. Way more fixated on bullet appearance over any actual shooting character! LOL In reality even "ugly" ones usually shoot just fine. It's got to be pretty easy or the practically is lost. Usually I dump 100 bullets in a Folgers 3# plastic can, about two heaping tablespoons of Harbor freight powder. Shake it up well. Dump on a screen (catching the powder that falls off), place screen with bullets in oven at 350-400 deg. for 30 min. Let them cool and add checks or size as is, done. The paint turns into a plastic coating that does not lead or make any smoke at all upon firing. It's self lubricating, or does not need any more added.
