Is anyone hunting with a shotgun?

Sorry for this off topic issue but living in the Bay State it is bow, shotgun or muzzleloader for whitetail deer.

Monday was opening day and I had the day off. It also included fresh snow.

Saw plenty of tracks but no luck.

Shotgun works, even old Foster slugs in a smoothie

A while back we shot some slugs at 35 yds. With old tech and my reloaded LEE slugs in a smooth bore. Only a bead sight I can almost keep all touching at 35 yds. Hand sized groups at 50 yds. My 427 gr. slug is something like .65 cal. as cast and is running 1050-1100 fps using a Trap load of Red Dot (17.0-17.5 gr.)in a 3/4 oz. wad. I do most of my 12 bore loading with an ancient LEE Load-All I was given as a gift when I was 19 (I'm 56-3/4 now). It does not kick hard and I feel it's silly to push slugs so hard, unless you have a rifled barrel and scope.
