the 700 ADL synthetic. I got one for a friend of mine. It came in and I bet it didn't weigh 6-1/2 lbs. We had one box of 220 gr. Soft Points. My buddy said lets go shoot it. I told him not me! I don't need an instant headache. We decided to box it up and send it to Larry Kelly at Mag-na-port. It cost about $125 back then for a 4-port job.

When we got it back we indeed sent out and shot it. I could not believe it. Honestly, and he still has the gun if you ever want to shoot it, it recoils like a .243 Winchester! Now it belches fire and will blow your earmuff off your head, but it simply does not kick. I'd let any woman or a 10 yr. old shoot it. Stock a .300 anything will try to give you a scope eyebrow. Every .338 needs a brake or porting pronto.

In the field your position is often compromised and hasty, done thinking of other things. Pow a bloody forehead. I think the .338 Winchester is about the best globe trotting all round gun there is. I'd shoot an Elephant with it and not think twice with the proper bullet. Penetration is simply impressive. The 250 gr. is really really close to the .375's 270 and Alaskans claim it's more telling on Bears than the .375. I've read it works fantastic on Lion in Africa too.
