Found a stainless polished one with a 7 1/2” barrel in 44/40. Always wanted one. Dude wants 900+ for it. Is it worth that much?

Sometimes .425" and smaller. This combined with .430" barrels truly sucks.

Can't say that they were all that way because I haven't seen them all.

I wanted one and checked out a few. One actually had throats .423", which would be a train wreck without some serious work.

Decided on a Uberti Flattop Target 44-40. Has .4305" throats and .4295" barrel. Ties for the most accurate revolver I own.

Make your own call, that's just my two cents worth of opinion.

YOU WOULD HAVE TO CHECK EACH INDIVIDUAL SIXGUN. IF THIS ONE HAS UNDER-SIZED THROATS IT IS AN EASY FIX BUT SHOULD BE FACTORED INTO THE PRICE.

But still wouldn't chamber rounds with bullets over .427". That may have gotten resolved too, I just decided not to wade in that game.

I found two Colt Cylinders in 44-40 that accepted .431" bullets in chambers and throats. I fit both to my New Frontier 44 Special and they group well under 1.5".

Not for me it isnt. They had notoriously undersized throats.

Had a friend send one back and the throats corrected...
