I have done this too. Different revolvers would even be different as far as ‘fit’. A wise reloaded who shall remain nameless <coughJimTaylorcough> suggested I try the LEE factory crimp die. Been trying it out, haven’t loaded enough to be definitive but seems oK so far on the tests I have done...

If you have a slight bit much of a crimp on the case it won't go into the revolver, but when you close the TC on that same round the action forces it closed and it will actually iron out that high crimp. The brass is softer than the steel in the TC barrel. If your case is slightly long it won't go in the cylinder but the TC can force it into the chamber. So this works for most revolver cartridges. Recently I was loading some 429 GNR that really were slightly too long and needed trimming. They wouldn't go in my cylinder but dropped in and the action closed tight on the rounds. And doesn't mean your reloads are bad just maybe a tiny bit over or under specs to be able to work in a revolver.
