Reeder Custom Guns - 475 Linebaugh Lever gun

Could a Marlin be converted to 475 Linebaugh? Have seen the Big Horn Armory one, its nice and rather expensive.

and took orders for it, then found out it didn't work. Every custom gunsmith has tried it too and the same thing. The rim of the cartridge is too wide to go thru the 336 frame and the cartridge is too short to feed thru the 1895 frame. We spent a couple months trying to make it work. It worked somewhat but not what I would want to hunt with. We made the 500 S&W work in an 1895 which the big boys said couldn't work but that is the only one of the large cartridges that we could get to work.

There's a few smiths doing the .480 on a 1894.

Any chance of one of these in the near future?

us to even consider it. The 1894 wasn't designed for that big rim to go thru the front of the frame nor was the magazine designed to handle a round that wide. All the strength features inside of the 1894 have to be removed for that big a cartridge to work thru them. So too many down sides for us to worry with it.
