to Maryland's Eastern Shore for a two day guided waterfowl hunt with a few friends. Since this is strictly an AM hunt I thought about what to do in the PM for at least two days.

I thought about some additional hunting but for small game. But I do have a big question regarding handgun hunting and the laws in Maryland.

Yes. I know I should call up the state but I have not had the chance to do so with work issues and the like. I did some searching online at the DNR site but could not really get a clear answer.

I am hoping someone from Maryland could give me some advice. As far as I can tell, it would be legal to hunt small game in that state on public land with a handgun as long as it is out in the open and treated as a regular hunting firearm.

Just asking. I know some would say I am wasting my money but this may be a one shot deal.

Out of stater with a handgun? In Maryland? Not worth it!!

a small game hunting license. in most states to hunt anything you have to have some type of license. here to hunt prairie dogs we have to have a small game license and most states I have hunted in in the past has had the same thing. Also even if it is OK to hunt on private land you better know somebody if you plan on doing so. Not everybody will just let you hunt on their land.

Getting pulled over by the police WILL ruin your day.....

Maryland is a super left anti gun state and an out of stater with a handgun wont be getting a warm welcome. Better be in your trunk in a locked case with the ammo locked up separated and not in close proximity.

Woody is correct, I just came through there

this past Thursday and made sure I separated the clip from the gun and locked both up separately. Do not speed either, they look for out of state vehicles. I was on I81.
