I have a two part question. Now that the new year is to begin I intend to hunt each Saturday until March for coyotes and other predators. Since I live in Massachusetts that usually but not always means snow. So my two part question is as follows:

1. What is your favorite type or brand of snow camouflage?

2. What is your favorite type or brand of winter camouflage( when there is no snow on the ground or there may be patches of snow and ice here and there. )

When I lived in the mountains in southern Arizona I hunted coyotes in the snow. I never worried about camouflage clothing. I went in quietly .. picked my spot .. waited a while and started calling. Shot some of my best coyotes like that. Coyotes seem more aware of movement than they are of color.. at least that's my gut feeling. In the summer .. no camo .. I have had them run right up to me.

Only blue jeans and whatever shirt was warm. Grew up still-hunting never a blind or stand, might find a a tree to crawl up under and rest.

shirt or jacket but that is just because it is a comfy flannel, and usually that is with an orange vest so that kills any reasoning for wearing camo. [image]

wear any special snow camo. As usual i wear black jeans and a jacket with a break up finish like a plaid, so no solid colors and sit behind or into the front of a large juniper tree. I have actually had jack rabbits hop up within a few feet of me and never notice me if I stay still. I really don't believe in camo. None of the great handgun hunters in the past used camo and they always seemed to get their game. I have also had deer come up to within 5 feet of me when I sit still and with a big heavy brush pile behind me. Camo is highly overrated and more of a gimmick than anything else. A good hunter doesn't need it.

at least not like humans. Turkeys on the other hand seem to be able to.

I was wearing florescent hunter red vest and hat .. accidentally walked up on a whitetail buck. I was within 10 feet of him .. he had stepped out from behind a tree that was between us.

I froze and so did he. He could smell me or somehow sense I was there, but he could not tell where. He would look at me (I did not make eye contact) then look away .. then look another direction .. he kept that up for 5 or 6 minutes before deciding to ease off into the brush.

It was really amazing. I was standing out in the open, completely visible. Bright shiny red. But I did not move. And he could not tell for sure where I was.

in Africa and the video was taken at night with the video camera set on "night shoot" and almost all the camo jackets and pants showed up solid white. Supposedly this is what the animals see. I had black jeans on as I got back to camp before the rest of the guys but wanted to video their animals and my jeans showed up solid white. Several of the Misfits on here have seen the video.
