Dick Casull told us a story about hunting in the house ..
He said one morning he and his wife were at the kitchen table, having breakfast. There was a small space between the fridge and the stove and a mouse ran across from the stove to the fridge while they were eating. His wife said, "Dick! Get that mouse!"
Like a good husband he said, "Yes dear." and went out to his shop. He took one of his rifles .. I believe it was an 06 though I could be wrong .. this was 30-some years ago he told this story. But it was a high-power centerfire. He loaded a case full of Bullseye, shoved some wax into the case mouth for a wad. He tied a string to the trigger of the rifle and then went back to the kitchen.
He laid the rifle on the floor, muzzle pointing between the fridge and the stove. Then he put a piece of cheese in front of the muzzle, closed the bolt on the rifle and went back to breakfast.
His wife is watching all this with a "hows this gonna work?" look on her face.
In a little while the mouse came out and went to the cheese. Dick tugged the string.
He said, "That mouse must have hit close to 4000 fps. It was embedded into the sheetrock wall!"
I am not sure if his wife ever asked him to kill a mouse again.
