the Rock Island. They are as close to being perfect as any 1911 I know of plus they are about half the price of other 1911s that are no better. Before we got our own slides and frames we had a contract with Rock Island to furnish our frames for us. We went with them because they were as perfect as a 1911 can be. Every dimension was perfect. Every hole was exactly in the right place.Every small part fit. I would go with a Rock Island before I would even think about a Kimber or any other high dollar 1911. Our frames and slides are as perfect as a 1911 can be (or we wouldn't have spent mega bucks for them), but I consider the Rock Island to be equal in every way. So if you are thinking of a 1911 without spending well over a grand, give the Rock Island a good long look.
