I have eight of your guns mostly vapor honed stainless. Through field use on two of them, the finish became worn and scratched. (My fault, as I done care for them as well as I should). I have a very good six station buffing set up for other guns and hot rod parts and I decided to redo with a high polish finish. Both of them came out extremely well and I like the high luster finish a lot. However, I can't seem to find an appropriate way to recolor the engravings back to black so they will stand out. Could it be the wax residue from the polishing compound that won't allow anything to adhere?

Can you suggest a suitable ink/dye/paint (coating?) to fill the engravings back in to where they will stand out like they did when you first did the guns?

paintbetter black ink that will work. the India ink is a 100 year old idea. Degrease them after you polish them. Then pick up some India ink at a hobby shop. There may even be a better black epoxy paint that works better than india ink. But a good hobby shop will know more about that.Rub the ink or paint into the engraving then let it dry for about a minute and again using the brake cleaner wipe the excess off.

I tried several different paints an inks, but didn't think to try and clean after the polish. I though it would deteriorate the luster. But in hindsight I can go back and wax over the whole gun after I have "re-blacked" the engravings.

On another note, two of the guns that came from you do not have you name on them. If I sent them back, could you engrave them for me? I know they were done by you, but having your stamp on the gun definitely increases my resale value. I originally bought for investment purposes for my collection, but there are a couple or three of them though that just beg me to take them out and shoot them.

Thanks for all you help, I really do enjoy all the guns I have of yours. I have several Freedom Arms 97's and 83's. Do you do any mods to those like t=you do to the Rugers?

required to put our name on guns that were not a full package as that was considered "repair work". But feel free to get them to me and I can put our logo on there. We do quite a bit of work on the Freedom Arms. Mostly rechambering to our calibers, Gunfighter Grip conversions with new grips, action jobs and engraving.
