7 GNR, does anyone have chronographed

with about any bullet. My choice for deer type critters is the Nosler 120 BT. I shot a couple nice critters at the Y-O with it, no drama. Basically a pistol version of the 7x57. I liked H322 but several powders work well, hard to mess it up. I have a 12"(rifled)+2" braked barrel for the Contender.

I was using once fired .30-30 brass run FL and fireformed with a 10% reduced load. They all went over 2200 fps and shot into the same hole, might as well hunt with them forming brass. My loads showed a brilliant muzzle flash and it was fun shooting at public ranges. It freaked everyone out, looks like flash photography and a thunderous boom with the brake. Recoil is seriously like a .223, none at all. It's amazing.

I'm shooting Hornady flat based 139s at 2300. The only reason I chrono'ed that load was to build a little more confidence for longer shots. So, making 120s do 2400 should be easy. However, don't get hung up on it. My 30-30 shoots 150 Round Nosed bullets at 2200 and kills whatever I'm good enough to hit right out to 200 yards too.

speed. Speed doesn't kill, accuracy kills. Of all my handguns that I hunt with all over the world, I personally have not chrono'd any of them. Any velocity figures I might post comes from Sean Harper who does all my ballistic testing. So I have an ideas of how fast that bullet is going but the exact velocity is not something I ever worry about. It is really easy to get hung up on velocity figures. My recommendation is forget all that and just concentrate on putting the bullet where it needs to be. Shot placement is much more important than velocity.
