Reeder Custom Guns - S&W 16-4 rechamber

I had intended to buy a new Colt Python but since they seem to need to work out some issues with them and the amount that people are paying for them is stupid high I decided to put that money elsewhere and just bought a 4 inch S&W 16-4 .32 H&R Magnum. I wanted to know if you could rechamber it to .327 Federal and if I can find a .22 K Frame cylinder if you could rechamber it to .32-20 or your .321 GNR? Also I am having a hard time finding info on the .321 other than it is based on the .357 Mag case. Is it a big enough jump (velocity, ease of forming, etc) over the .32-20?

an initial twinge to cry out in protest. But that re-chamber to .327 is so useful and a positive I can't truly see it hurting a darned thing. Who cares if it does a bit anyway. I did that to my Dan Wesson and never looked back. I have lucked onto some K-frame parts including M17 cylinders on Gunbroker. You only have to be vigilant and have cash ready. Fitting them is another matter, too many variables in my view. Sounds like a fun project for a very dedicated shooter and enthusiast.

I found a used Model 17 cylinder for $139. Is there anything I need to look for? It is the cylinder with the extractor. Do I need to have the yoke also?

every time you change calibers, make sure you get the crane with the cylinder. Plus the crane on your original cylinder may not work well on the new cylinder.

I know it is gaining semi/collector status but I didn’t buy it as an investment. I plan to shoot the crap out of it. Probably shoot a few deer and pigs and might carry it concealed too. I am looking for spare K Frame .22 cylinders and may have one of them bored out to .327 Federal and leave the stock cylinder alone but then again maybe not. I really freaked someone out when I said I was thinking about having the frame case hardened and the rest reblued in a rust blue!

only applies to a new gun, unfired with the box and all the paperwork. A collector isn't interested in a gun that has been shot unless it was shot by someone famous. Shoot the gun and enjoy it.

up most of the cylinder window it should be fine for rechambering to the 327. It would also be fine for the 321 GNR. The 321 is based on the 357 Magnum brass and will beat the 327 Federal by about 800 fps. Loading it is a simple run thru the sizer die. In the lighter bullet loadings it will beat the 357 Magnum. It will put out a 90 grain bullet at almost 2300 fps, a 110 grain bullet at almost 2200 fps and a 125 grain bullet at 2100 fps. It is the most powerful of the 32 caliber revolver rounds. The model 17 cylinder should be fine also but it would be all according to whether it would fit your frame.
