just about everything else concerning the Celebrity handgun Hunt and he was up to his ass in alligators. The hunt was a charity hunt and we gathered up many thousand lbs of meat for the needy at Christmas. It started out at $995 per person to hunt and we got usually a buck and 2 or 3 does of various species, usually Sika or Axis deer. When it ended I think it was $1495 or somewhere in that range. There was all kinds of animals at the Y.O. Ranch including all kinds of exotic animals, African animals and whitetail deer. Kase donated a custom 1911 and I donated a custom revolver and other folks like Freedom Arms, Magnum research, SSK, TC, Remington, Surefire, and several others donated custom guns, barrels and various other prizes that were given away. One of the prizes, usually either my revolver or Kase's 1911 was given away to the person that brought in the most meat. Usually someone with deep pockets took that prize by shooting 2 or 3 Bison. One fellow shot a whole herd of about 10 female Red Stag (called Hinds) and took the prize that year.
Taz was so frustrated that I asked him if I could help. He was pissed at all the old fat guys that came to the hunt (it was by invitation only) and they never bought anything or contributed anything except play poker all night and feed off the open bar. He asked me if I could bring some new blood into the hunt. I told him yes and I took over the invitations. I invited probably 25 guys off this forum, including Scotty, Doug Faith, Puffy, Andy Rowe, Larry Farley, Charlie Herf, Kelly Brost, Sean Harper, Greg Geiger, Brian Tonnacliff, Bill Firman and a bunch of others I can't think of right now. I apologize to any of you that I didn't mention. It gave the Celebrity Handgun Hunt a little life for the next 3 or 4 years. Finally the 2 handgun chapters' infighting in the Safari Club ruined a good thing and the hunt ended after about 15 years or so.But it was a great thing while it lasted and it helped out a lot of needy at Christmas time.
