Adding the 38-40 Cylinder...

More to this than many realize. The Uberti Cylinders do not come drop in. In fact they have to be fit on both ends.

Luckily, they come with removable front bushings like some Colts. This makes it easier to start.

This one needed .007" removed from each rachet tooth. I measure each tooth from the front of the cylinder. Filing off .0065" and then polishing each tooth off so the sharp edges don't scratch or cut into the frame.

When that looks right on the barrel gap, the front bushing is put back in. Then slowly filed back until it almost fits in the window. After making sure it's cut square, I polish it until it fits. These parts get hot quick when polishing.

In the end, just a thorough cleaning and oiling is needed. This one came out with .0025" barrel gap and .005" clearance between the case head and recoil shield. That is using Starline Brass.
