Reeder Custom Guns - College boys Saturday shoot.

Roman occasionally has college buddies over for a little trigger time. So much better than what some rowdy guys are up to. They are nice young men. Wonder what the future holds for them. Roman is working full time, has a side job, and is planning to continue his studies (while working nite shift) at the end of summer. They really have a good time I think. However they knock all the dobber nests out of the rafters onto my motorcycles!

Seems they prefer the AK platform?! Interesting to me. I guess the good guy in the movies always picks up a baddy’s AK and does business. Romanticizes the piece.

The Asian boys are in fact Chinese students studying here. They love it and what real freedom feels like!

It is a Norinco Chinese. I ordered it on my FFL and Doug ended up with it. Once he left it on the top of his car and tried to drive off. It fell and broke into about 3 big pieces. Dishearten telling me about it I told him how to simply glue it back together. That was some 30 yrs. and literally thousands of rounds ago. I did source the correct blade bayonet for it much later. It was the first firearm Roman took self interest in. He became familiar with it in a game as a young lad, “Call of Duty” where you chose jungle type warfare and picked your weapons. It’s a great ranch gun! I think I originally sold it to Doug for maybe $75, bought it back from him at over twice that! Lol

Luv the story of yours! Mine is Russian (1954), has an above average piece of wood on it and was put together right. Has never malfunctioned once and is more accurate than it has any right to be. Many nights of rubbing tung oil into the stock has yielded a look no one believes is possible for a production-line military stock!

it's a bit rough on me to pay premium prices. But they are such fine rigs I can when I find one I like, all milled etc. Wanted to try one of those Yugos that you can turn off the gas system so I won't lose my brass. Wood and milled steel will always be good.

I remember a guy I worked with in the 70's had one. I'd never seen one in the flesh. He personally brought it back from VietNam. He had a beautiful war trophy AK but they would not let him bring it back, so they gave him the SKS. They were bringing about $1500 in the mid-late 1970's. Back when a new Trans-Am cost about $10,000. The only way you could get one was a bring-back.

Ft. Campbell in the late 70s a good friend in the 101st brought back an SKS and gave it to me. It had the star on the stock and the red magazines. It didn't interest me at all but i kept it a while and then gave it or sold it to someone else. I assume it was one of the rare Russian guns although I really don't remember. Ammo was hard to find at that time and it wasn't a handgun so it didn't interest me at all. These days it would be worth a bunch.

That Palmetto AR pistol I got a while back- it’s a dedicated receiver that uses all 9mm Glock mags. Upper unit is a blow back using a normal M4 buffer spring and a little different buffer. It only has a 4” barrel but an extension “blast can” directing blast and sound forward. It’s just a fun gun. Now I need to teach them to pick up a little better after themselves. Brass everywhere!
