Is the .357 just not too popular among the guys on here? I seldom see it mentioned and the custom Model 19 2.5" is advertised again today (Saturday) with no takers. I have 2, a 6" L-Frame and a 2.5" Model 19. Not for what some would consider big game but I would take my L-Frame deer hunting and not be afraid to carry it in black bear country. Are their better choices, sure but the.357 isn't
a pipsqueak. Lots of game has been taken with it.

Tom I've drooled over that Model 19 both times

and if I had spare cash I'd jump on it. My best gun is a Model 27 - it's so good it's almost boring to shoot. But for handloading, I just like tinkering with other calibers. 45 Colt is a favorite.

that is a helluva deal on a helluva gun. The model 19

is one of the finest snubbie guns ever and that is a great deal. I think Gary said it was about half price.

is a 2.5" Model 19, less the action work and engraving. Very nice gun, still in basically factory fresh condition.
With full house magnums the wooden grips give you a pretty good sting, changed to a rubber Pachmayr set, helped considerably but the wooden ones are still better looking.
I use an inverted Bianchi shoulder holster or a paddle holster when I carry it instead on my 1911 Commander size .45

There are several variations of it anymore. I have packed a .357 SP101 with a 3 inch barrel well into the back country when backpacking. With the right bullet I believe it can be an amazing caliber. Don't under estimate its potential and popularity. I carried one my first 8 years in law enforcement, a 5 inch barrel N frame S&W that I wish I had never sold.
