Reeder Custom Guns - Trail Guns (Single-Six based)

... Bought a GNR .38 Super 6 inch and it's a joy... now, quoting JT yesterday, "the single-six .327 can be painful."... this begs the question re: recoil to 10mm TG owners loading 180s to 1300... (675 ft lbs)... any comments?

some folks a hot 357 is all they can stand. others shoot the 475s and 500s with no problem. We have built our Trail gun in 10mm, 40 S&W, 38 Super, 9mm, 32-20, 250 GNR, 218 Bee, 25-20, 218 Mashburn Bee,and several others that I can't think of right now.

In any of those calibers. I have them in 10mm, 40 S&W, 38 Super, 9mm, 327 Federal, etc.

I guess everybody's definition of recoil is different. But, none of these are eventful to me.

I avoid those heavy kickers you pioneers developed and made available to us.

Use a lot of Unique and 231 in my big guns for easy shooting.

Very rare for me to shoot anything over a 45 Colt and 44 Special.

So, you pioneer types have not only paved the way, but also warned us what not to do.

Now, I've got a Bearcat 327 that I shot one cylinder full through. Now, it gets cast bullets in 32 Magnum cases with Unique.

I bought three of them. One was converted to 22 Magnum, one 327 Federal and one is still pending. But, not half bad as a 22 LR.

Although a downloaded 32 H&R Magnum could be equal. Just wouldn’t sound as old school (skool?)

It'll beat the 327 Federal and nip at the 357 Magnum ballistics. In a good, sturdy 5-Shot on the Single Six Frame, it would be a new animal.

with our 10mm Trail Guns. I have a .40 but seat the bullet out to full 10mm OAL. This allows a revolver shooter to simply load full power 10mm loads in .40 cases. Ditto Huey can seat his 10mm out a little longer to whatever the cylinder allows and lower pressure, boosting power a bit if he wants to take advantage of it.

I shot mine with a 155 gr. plated HP at 1337 fps avg. and really did not think of it in terms of recoil. My 180 gr. cast loads using (both used 8.5 gr. Longshot, OAL same as 10mm Auto) went 1267 fps avg. The gun is actually not all that light compared to a med. frame Ruger! I think it runs around 36-40 oz.

I finally settled on the light weight doesn't carry the momentum of heavier guns. Kinda like the Democrat's ploy I suppose. I can say anything I want. Can't prove it and it can't be disproved either.

I was really expecting more recoil from those. Another one of Jim's "Prove it to yourself" things I suppose.

Mine is 6.5" too, but not a Bisley. Weighs in at 33.6 oz.

Been thinking about a 5" model in 10mm. This time with an Aluminium Gripframe and ERH. Also, a Fluted Cylinder etc.

cause you can. LOL never shoot 41 special, 38 special or 44 specials in my magnums. I would rather down load them. Have a gun or cylinder for its own maybe. Not a fan of dual cylinders per say but Buckeyes do intrigue me now when they didn't a few years ago.

30 Carbine and 22 K-Hornet for two more. Recoil is nothing..

JT lobbied for and got the adjustable sight Bearcats...

This one is before the transfer bar.

AS Bearcat has been on my list for a while...
