thought they were Colts as to me any single action was a Colt but my gut feeling these days is they were not Colts. They were later "misplaced" on one of our moves. One was a 45 Long Colt and the other was for a shorter cartridge, the 45 Short Colt maybe? Dad was in the Army and for a while we were stationed at the White Sands military base. I remember Dad and a buddy going out at night hunting and bringing back a trunk full of deer. I can still smell that brassy smell of the blood when he opened the trunk. I remember ladies from the base coming to the house getting deer steaks and taking a big bag of them home.

I am getting like WB now with a long paragraph to give a 10 word answer. My first one was a P.O.S RG with a 4 inch barrel in 22 LR. I remember dad bought it at the PX for $4.50 and gave it to me when we got home. I was maybe 12 or so and it was the best handgun made to me.

I graduated from High school at 17 and got into radio. This was 1963 so I could buy a handgun at 18. I was working at WDXR radio in the top floor of the Irvin Cobb Hotel in Paducah Kentucky so I went to a pawn shop in downtown Paducah and bought a High Standard Double Nine, 22 LR, 9 shot and 9" barrel. It was about half a weeks pay at $29.95.

It wasn't around for long before it was replaced with a J-Frame.

First gun I bought with my own money, too. I bought it because my dad had one and it was the only handgun larger than a .22 I had every shot. I traded it several years later for a Buckeye .38/40-10mm. I regretted that trade from the moment I made it. However, another several years down the road, I bought the one from my dad as he was downsizing in retirement. Still have that one. It isn't going anywhere.

I'd just started my senior year of college when I turned 21. They were $99 with cheap ammo and lots of guys were playing with them at the time. Haven't shot it in years. I still have some old handloads and most of a case of surplus ammo. I see no reason to sell it. That brass launcher pushed me to revolvers, and my second gun was a Colt Police Positive Special.

When I was 17 saved the money and had my dad buy it for me. Grew up with dads 41 Blackhawk. Could use some of dads reloading supplies.

Homer Alaska when i was working on Fishing Boats about 1980? That gun killed many a seagull, and other assorted critters.

The 22 very easy to shoot. Had a bit of apprehension leading up to shooting the .44 due to all the magazine hype about the most powerful round etc. shot it and all was ok.

A Colt knock off from Spain. The first one i bought was a 1911 that my brother in law had to purchase for me, i was only 20.

First literal one I traded a cheap switch blade and $12.50. Got it working by pulling on the sacked firing pin spring and bending on the mag lips. Box of ammo was $6.50. First gun I outright bought myself was a .44 Super Blackhawk for $175 in a gun store.

it from a widow for $10.00 in 1964. Because of that gun, I learn to cast bullets and reload.

The state I was living in at that time you needed a license to carry permit. And had to be 21 years of age. Your local chief of police issued the license.

My uncle had a 41 magnum Blackhawk stolen and the police called and said they had it after 2 or 3 years. He told my dad he owe some fines at the Police office and all they would do was put him in jail. So he asked dad to go get it. This would been around 1988. So dad went there and they give it to him. Also we lived in a small town. So when dad got back with it, Uncle Joe said just give it to that boy. I loved my Uncle Joe.
I had Gary redo it a few years ago.
