Reeder Custom Guns - new Ruger 57s. last week we got one in but before

but before I could get pics of it someone bought it. Today we got 3 more and I took the pics before they ever hit the counter as we have folks waiting for them. The guns are smooth, mostly nylon like a Glock. Ambi safety for you lefties and a really nice feeling gun. For those of you that haven't seen one here are some pics of the 3 we got in this morning.

We also got a couple more of the Glock model 44 in 22 LR but they are sorta old news these days so no big deal.

The only thing about the 57 that bothers me a bit is that slot in the slide up front. A person carrying one hunting for small game might end up with junk down in that slot that could slow the action down causing a jam. Other than that small item I like the new 57 and think it will be a hit for Ruger.

17 gr., .177 bullet at 2000 fps (handgun) v.s. 27 gr. .22 bullet at 2000 fps. Shoot plenty flat I bet. Fantastic turtle or rabbit gun.

is almost futile on a windy day. We have a ball sniping pop cans filled with water at 200 yds. or so. I have a Savage 93 thumbhole HB that shoots 1/4" groups on windless days. Add even a little wind and it opens right up. Takes a better boy than me to work it right.

The only time I shot a FN 57 was at HHC. I think Jerry E. brought one and let everyone shoot it all they wanted. A terrible little gun in my view. But with the guy providing free ammo, being so nice, and you KNEW he spent over $1200 on it, how could you malign the man's rig?! It shot, and did not bobble even once.

here in the shop but never do when I am hunting. I never hear the shot when hunting but almost always hear the bullet hit the animal.

About 300 fps more than a .22 WMR, but it’s pretty blasty for such a small gain. About like a .357 to me. Lots of bark for the dog.

I AM I OFTEN HEAR THE BULLET HIT.

I heard the bullet hit. They always look at me like i am crazy and tell me that is impossible, that animal is a hundred yards away. Usually I can tell if it is a solid shoulder hit or a gut hit also. On a shoulder or hard bone hit the sound is almost a crack, while a gut shot is a dull whump. People laugh at me on that too but it usually proves true.

I could hear the bullet hit at 300 yards ... and not hear my wife asking me something.

I DON'T FEEL THE RECOIL OR THE BLAST BUT CAN HEAR THE BULLET HIT.

hunt a year or so ago my PH told me to get my 450 GNR up to as close to 2000 fps with a 500 grain solid as I could. When I got to a bit past 1900 it flat out hurt. It was enough that I was a bit afraid I would flinch. But when the Buffalo trotted out to meet us and I took the shot, I never heard the shot nor did I remember the recoil. But I flat out heard that 500 grain bullet hit him.

A study was done several years ago that determined married men live longer than single men. Not widely reported was an additional finding in the same report that most married men are more willing to die.

180 YARDS. THE TRACKED SAID I MISSED. I SAID I HIT IT AND HEARD IT HIT. IT WAS DEAD.

Have had a few that say Ruger is building a gun/cartridge that nobody wants.

I quickly pointed out that Ruger has a history of this. The 45 Colt, 44 Special, Ruger #1 and Blackhawk Revolver all came to mind.

What does the ammo look like , and whats it based on/off of?

If it were a .257! The little brass looks to have lots of potential!

Being a blow back action I don't know how a guy could make out on that type of platform. BUT with a LOCKED BREACH boy it could be a barn burner. I don't think anyone needs to EVER hot rod a 5.7 on a different platform, just too dangerous to accidentally get a hot one in a blow-back gun. But change the caliber, and all bets are off.
