as a .224 and the 38 special, according to which company. Colt likes .356, S&W likes .357 (again from what I have read).
I don't worry too much about the cylinder throats, at least as much as some. The reamer is usually 6 to 8" long and the front of it cuts the cylinder throats at the same time the rear cuts the chambers. If the reamer is fairly new and to specs, as they normally are, then the throats of the cylinder should be fine (my opinion only). Once our reamers are beginning to get dull I throw them out. I never resharpen them as that takes a few thou off the size and they cut too tight a throat. Dave Manson, my reamer guru, is very picky about his reamers and that is one of the reasons I stick with him. I have yet to find fault with any of his reamers and I have been using his reamers since 1985.
