Gary, I was wandering about your 250 GNR. You mention it on your wildcat cartridge page but I can't find it in your reloading manuals. I have a bunch of 32 mag cases and an extra Ruger single 6 that has been collecting dust since I own a few of them. Would the single 6 be a good platform for this cartridge, or is it to small?

Thanks

I'll let Gary answer as you asked him. But...

I'm probably the biggest fan of the 250 GNR. It's an amazing cartridge in the Single Six Framed Guns.

Mine is actually based on a Single Seven, including being a seven shot. Gary simply replaced the cylinder with a seven shot 250 GNR cylinder. The barrel is 6" long and octagon.

Cartridge loads easy with a wide range of powdera. I use Unique thru H110. Mine shoots a 60 grn at 1800 fps. My favorite small game cartridge/gun combo.

Thank you Huey for the info. I am interested in the cartridge and accuracy. Looking for something else to carry in the northern mountains of New Mexico that will do the job on small critters up to the size of a coyote. During the summer don't have much problems with bears, spring and fall are a different story though. During those times I carry a hand howitzer as have had a few run-ins and they seem to have a bad disposition for everything.

With loads my gun likes, 1" @ 25 yards and under...

Are the norm. I'm actually fond of the lower powered loads. I use Unique to push a 55 grn GT Hollow Point Cast at 1340 fps. Groups are nickel sized, bullets mushroom perfectly and it's not louder than my Bearcat 22 Magnum.

Thanks again Huey, now I'm leaning so far that way, I'm about to fall over. You have been a great help. I guess I will pack up my Ruger and send it Gary's way.

Kevin, Huey is right, the 250 GNR works fine in the

Single Six frame. I put the load data in the die box. I don't have my 3rd edition loading manual done yet as I am still trying to find someone to print it. The quotes I am getting are 6 times what I paid 2 years ago for an updated manual, so I am still looking.

OOOOOoooch! That's hard on the pocket book. Thanks for all the info guys, I'm sold. Gary, I will pack up my single six and fill out the form and send it to you. Looking forward to shooting my 307 GNR that you are building me now.
Again, Thank you and your guys at the shop and for the forum to discuss info. I've learned a great deal from all.
