That a SAA has to be an Army model in. .45 or .44 WCF to reflect the true period. I think that misses a lot. While the Bisley original grip feels super funky it is distinctive, reinforcing the Colt heritage for some of the most odd handgun handles ever devised, even to current times. There is ample historical reference to frontiersmen on both sides of the law carrying the Bisley. More likely driven more by individual availability than preference. Run what you brung!

The variety and colorful history is fun anyway. I’ve seen several deals in the $1500 range that I passed by. Not a bad budget figure and I think a guy could come out staying in that range. Some SAA are well over $1k more and even more common in caliber and style. Lots of variables.
