Kids hunting and fishing!

I feel bad for those that do not get a chance to grow up in the outdoors. Like many of you, I had that opportunity. Catching crickets and digging worms for bait was as much fun as fishing. I had a BB gun wore out before most of my friends got their first. When they started with their BB gun I had moved on to .22.

We prowled the woods day and night. The only thing I had to do was let pop know what side of the road I was going to be on. It gave him a direction to look if I didn’t make it back. We camped out all night and wasn’t afraid of any booger the dark held!

I say this because I have friends with children that can’t be in a room in the house alone, no way outside! Sure they “hunt” with their dads. Sleep in a box stand until one shows up and daddy wakes them to make the shot. But then won’t touch it because they will get dirty.

My great nephew was3 years old in October. His mom and dad, 2 grandfathers and my Pop his great grandfather are giving him an outdoor education already. He is learning in safety with Nerf guns. And is expected to treat them like they were real. He has a lot of time with my Pop in the yard and woods on “adventures”. This week he was playing in the yard with a net and decided he would catch a bird. He found one down low in a not hole and sure enough caught it! He is 3! Then Pop show him how to make a trap. With a box and stick and string tied to the stick.... put the bird seed under the box and run the string through a crack in the window. He caught 4 more. Did I tell you he was 3! He was shown how to do it, and then he did it himself.

They are just little, not stupid. Give them your time. They need that so much more than thee stuff piled in their rooms!
