Greetings, everyone !!! It has been 2 months sent i've sent out an update on Allie.. The December update was written by Allison herself and was quite personal, graphic, and honest... We had all hoped that by now we would be able to report that Allie was well on her way to recovery and entering a state of independence in her "new" normal.. Unfortunately, that huge step forward has to wait for another hurdle to be jumped !! Allie's most recent PET scan revealed a " new" unwanted tumor on her liver..NOT the news we were hoping to receive !!! Her choices are 10 weeks of the most potent FU-5 CHEMO ( which she has already had months ago) OR surgery to remove the tumor.. Since radiation is not always 100% and surgery might be needed afterwards anyway, she has opted for surgery...and soon !!! The liver is a pesky organ to get to so, again, unfortunately, she will , once again, need to have the huge incision down the center of her chest and they will need to "lift" her liver out again to remove the tumor... NOT a pleasant surgery OR recovery !!! Her Tumor Board of Drs. meets this Tuesday to make sure they are on the "same page" as her liver oncologist surgeon . Then, we're hoping her surgery will be scheduled the week of March 9th.. We i will be driving back over to her this coming Saturday so we will be with her for the surgery and recovery time...Her spirits are good BUT she is VERY anxious to have this surgery ( her 10th) behind her AND then, hopefully, move forward to a stable time of recovery !!!
