They made a full size SAA but in .22 RF. Real lead spitting wonders, some were. The barrel and cylinder both were an alloy with steel liners. Some seemed to shoot OK. It is kind of neat to have a big gun but in .22 for practice. The alloy does not wear too well and the "paint" flakes off easily. Remnants from the 50's and 60's Cowboy Western craze.

The little FIE and Hawes "Buffalo" scouts are the worst. I had one in .22 WMR that would shower your hands in debris, stinging smartly at every shot. In my youth I just figured it was part of the Magnum thing. The barrels lead horrifically and cylinder gaps spit lead. Then you may fall into one that is just ducky!

I have one that a REAL gunsmith installed a barrel off a Remington 550 rifle and gaped correctly. I added a scope mount and it shoots under 2" groups at 50 yds!

I've often said, tongue in cheek, there are no bad guns, just bad attitudes. But I have had some engineering questions that remain unanswered, on which we have a different perspective.

Action is shot and the barrel did loosen a time or two. Just never took the time to fix it or get it fixed. I saw a lot of parts for it on the numrich site so may have to dig it out and play with it again. It has been tucked away for 35-40 years.
