Reeder Custom Guns - Small pistols

With all the talk lately on small caliber carry pistols got me thinking. Would you rather carry a 22wmr NAA or a reliable 32auto? Strictly asking about the rounds not pistols features.

Not to mention 5 rounds vs 7-10 rnds. and the shootability. I see it as apples and oranges. Not really competing against each other. The NAA is strictly a last ditch pocket gun. The .32 ACP has been a home, military, and personal protection gun since before WWI.

Admittedly today there are 9mm Luger guns even smaller than many .32's. .380's smaller still. I think you cold pack both, a NAA and a handy .32. Personally I think the .32 now days is more a novelty for those who enjoy the old platforms and do not mind the limitations for enjoyable casual carry. If I really thought I was getting into a gunfight I'd just go somewhere else. lol

All the various military models that have passed through, Doug too. Some of interest were Hungarian, German, and Italian military handguns. Right now I think the only example of an auto I have is a tiny little Bayard M1908 in .32 ACP. I really liked the Sauer & Sohns 38H as it was one of my all time favorites. The little Beretta 1935 is a great gun, some like the Walther and Mauser HSc but I've never owned copies of either. I do sort of like the odd tubular Astra. Who does not like the Colt M1903, but placed along side it found it exactly the same size as my Kahr P40 6-shot .40 S&W, only heavier!

The practicality of a .32 ACP for modern carry is a bit arguable but for the fun of it and collectors interest they have a lot going for them. They are lots cheaper than the larger bores.

The little Bayard .32 despite being made in the 1920's is exactly the same size as a modern Kel-tec .32. The Flappers are all gone but but bad sorts remain. Would it do as well today as it did 100 yrs. ago?

I HAVE 2. A NNA black widow in 22 mag and a Star BM in 9mm. The NAA is much handier. I carry it in my shirt pocket. I have killed several snakes and coon and missed a couple of squirrels. If I had a confrontation with a human I would much prefer the 9mm. I have only had that happen once. I came out of a casino a big winner. When I closed my door this person opened it. I pointed my 2" S&W model 10 at him and he departed.

Wondering if you tried to carry it in your pants pocket somehow. I picked up a Taurus G2c 9mmand can fit it into cargo pants pocket but it has a pretty good bulge. Ordered a IWB holster for it. It's lighter than my Star BM. Going to relegate it to a car gun for the wife.

as a backup. Underwood Ammo has a penetrator bullet in +P. I have confidence in that set up.

The NAA 22 WMR is smaller and easier to carry but I am gravitating to carrying my NAA Guardian 32 acp more. Mainly because eith the 22 WMR you have 5 shots and you are done. The cylinder has to be removed to reload it.The Guardian comes with a 6brojnd clip and a spare clip that's easy to carry so you have 12 shots available.

I have a kel tec p32 and will be getting a naa black widow. Either would be last ditch to a 9mm shield.

go with whichever one you are best with. Years ago I carried a 22 mag NAA in my cowboy boot in a little pouch sewn into it and at a red light at night after working late a guy yanked my passeger door open and jumped into the truck. There was no way to get that NAA out of my boot in time if the guy was planning on robbing me or shooting me. So I tried bluffing him, yelling at him to get the hell out of my truck. And as it turned out it was good that I couldn't get to my gun as it was just a drunk looking for some change.
Since then I haven't carried my NAA anywhere except in a jacket pocket in a restaurant where my PD or my Budischowsky would show.
